Duct Tape For Any First Aid Kit

Duct Tape in your first aid kitIn an emergency we all hope to be prepared for anything. First Aid kits have long been the standard of preparation for care of the injured. Most of our First Aid kits are mobile and rightly so. The challenge we face with portable First Aid Kits is we are limited to the space in our bags and the weight we can carry. So what should we have in our First Aid kits? In my opinion, Duct Tape should be an essential in every First Aid kit.

Duct Tape has many uses and not just for your redneck friends. Below is a list of uses for First Aid Duct Tape.

1. Taping on Bandages

Duct Tape is more adhesive than your typical bandage. Simply cover the bandage with the appropriate length of Duct Tape. This will secure the bandage while offering an extra level of protection and even some water resistance. Just be ready for some pain when removing the tape.

2. Making a Tourniquet

Duct Tape can easily be rolled lengthwise into a rope. This rope is then strong enough to tie around a limb to slow the flow of blood. The Duct Tape can also be used to close the wound.

3. Setting a Splint

Broken bone? Sticks and Duct Tape will make a secure split to help keep the bone in place until you can make it to a doctor.

4. Taping a Sprained Ankle

If you twist your ankle while hiking Duct Tape is a great alternative to athletic tape to stabilize your ankle long enough to get home. I recommend learning how to effectively tape an ankle as it is a great first aid skill to have for anyone.

5. Covering Blisters

Most have experienced the pain of having blisters on their feet. An easy way to survive a hike or trek with blistered feet is to cover them with Duct Tape. Just be careful when removing the tape.

6. Building a Stretcher

With two long sturdy sticks and Duct Tape you can create a stretcher to carry an

injured or unconscious body to safety. This does require a fair amount of tape but in a life-threatening situation it is worth it to pack that Duct Tape with you.

The uses for Duct Tape are as limitless as your imagination and ingenuity. I have named just a few. For more survival uses I recommend clicking on the following link.
