We all dream of being millionaires “someday,” but few of us will actually reach that status on our own. Luckily, there are a few awesome, young millionaires around today who’ve made it there on their own by turning their passion into a profitable venture with lots of hard work along the way.
Ashley Qualls
Ashley is the founder of Whateverlife.com, a site she first started at age 14 in 2004, to showcase her html and web design skills. To gain traffic, she first began offering free layouts for her friends on MySpace and by 2006, she was able to buy her own $250,000 home. It has been reported that Ashley turned down a $1.5 million offer from a prospective buyer who was interested in buying her site in 2005. I don’t know about you, but that offer would have been really hard for me to turn down!
David and Catherine Cook
Siblings David and Catherine Cook started an online yearbook site, Myyearbook.com, after flipping through the yearbook of their new hometown in Skillman, New Jersey. Catherine had the brilliant idea to ask their older brother, Geoff, for help with starting their company.
Luckily, Geoff was impressed with his siblings’ idea, so he invested $250,000 toward their new project, one that was so popular it gained 950,000 new members in the first year. Since then, the company has grown to a net worth of about $100 million, and the site is now redirected to meetme.com. That’s impressive for two teenagers!
Farrah Gray
Farrah started selling his own homemade body lotions and pet rocks at age 6, and while this isn’t the act that turned him into a millionaire, it did display his natural talent for selling and his passion for it too, at a young age.
Over the years, Farrah marketed many different products and he became a local “expert” on child entrepreneurship. But, what really turned Farrah into a self-made millionaire at age 14 was his determination to succeed. Since then, Farrah has written several books, won lots of awards, and is the youngest person to ever have an office on Wallstreet.
Mark Zuckerberg
What list of young millionaires would be complete without a mention of today’s most famous self-made, young millionaire?
As we all know, Mark is one of the creators behind the popular and oh-so-addicting Facebook and all of its associated apps and features.
In 2013, Mark stated he is working to connect the other 5 billion people, who so far do not have Internet, with Facebook.
What all these young millionaires have in common is that they had a plan and they put it into action. They were self-sufficient, determined, and extremely motivated. Using inspiration like the young people mentioned above, you can definitely find a way to not only survive in this world but thrive. There are business opportunities available that anyone can pursue regardless of age.
So, the only question is, when will you start your own journey to millions?
